The Day

The day at Brimmer and May Summer Camp is broken down into 30-minute blocks. Program periods run from 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the age of the campers, and include the following activities: Arts & Crafts, Drama, Dance, Music, Sports & Games, Archery (6-10 year olds only), Instructional Swim and Recreational Swim, Story Time, and weekly "Specials." Campers in each group follow a set weekly schedule and move as one unit from activity to activity with their counselors. Our youngest campers (Bees and Frogs) are also paired with our oldest campers (Bears, Elephants and Gilions) for a weekly Camp Brother/Sister activity. Seven and eight year-old campers are given a "Focus Group" choice of Art, Drama, Music, or Dance each session. Choosing a concentration allows the older campers an opportunity to focus on an area of interest and gives them more time to develop a finished product.

Cove

Every morning at Camp begins with Cove--a half-hour period during which the entire camp community gathers in the gymnasium to start the day off with gusto. The aim of Cove is not only to welcome new campers and to announce such important events as birthdays and lost teeth but also to inject campers with enough songs, skits, and silliness to keep that Camp Spirit rockin' and pumpin' all day long!

Specials

Campers participating in our Full-Day program will find at least two "Specials" on their schedule each week. Specials are surprise activities organized and led by group counselors and C.I.T.'s. Specials include anything from blind-fold trust walks to cookie-decorating, water-balloon games and tie-dye, and keep the Camp program electrifying and the campers inspired!

Lunch

Campers are asked to bring their own lunch, morning snack, and beverage--all packed in ice--each day. Juice and a light snack are provided for Full-Day campers in the afternoon.

All-Camp Events

Every Friday afternoon, from after-lunch until Assembly, all Full-Day campers and staff gather on the field for the grand finale of the week: the All-Camp Event. Activity Specialists create and organize such crowd pleasers as Camp Olympics, Gold Rush, Banana Bonanza, Superstar Challenges, and Halloween-in-July. The goal of All-Camp Events is to engender team spirit, camaraderie, and, above all, Fun-with-a-Capital "F"!

Friday Assemblies and Parent Picnics

Campers enrolled in the Full-Day program come together on the last Friday afternoon of each 2-week session, from 3:15-4:00 in the theater, to perform on stage the theme-based songs, dances, and drama skits they've been working on all session long. Parents and friends are welcome to attend!

Parents and friends of Half-Day campers are invited to a Parent Picnic from noon-1:00 p.m. on the last Friday of each session, to meet with group counselors and see their three and four year-olds sing, dance, and perform skits as well!
